Some Birthday Acquisitions

It's My Birthday

Today is my birthday and it is an enjoyable one! Brian surprised me with a trip out to the coast. We spent last night out in Lincoln City and stayed at a wonderful hotel. It was very romantic! They had rose petals all over the bed and spa tub. It was quiet and relaxing. Two things that we enjoy. Brian also took me shopping at the outlets. The beach is a favorite of ours. Our first date was at a beach and we had many more dates there over the months we were dating. Brian proposed at "our" beach. It holds a special place in our hearts.

It was enjoyable and a nice break, but it is always nice to be home with the boys. All my men are taking me out to The Cheesecake Factory for dinner tonight. Yumm! On the gift front, Tyler got me a beautiful necklace. Parker chose lovely earrings with a matching necklace. Anthony got me a gift card to my favorite online shoe store, Zappos. Together with gift cards from my Dad and my in-laws, (I told you it was my favorite) I am getting a purse I have had my eye on for awhile. The dog contributed by biting my sweater. He doesn't like sleeves!

I am very fortunate to have family who love me. I am truly blessed!

Nehemiah

Brian is teaching a series on the book of Nehemiah. It is incredible, and I am not just saying that because he is my husband. In fact, Sunday mornings can be a bit difficult when you are married to the pastor. When we have had a fight or I am just plain irritated with him, it can be hard to sit there and have him preach at you for an hour! A majority of the time though, God uses Brian's teaching to convict me of something I have done or the state of my heart towards Brian. I do admit, with some embarrassment, that there have been a few times when I won't go into the church service because I don't want to be convicted and I definitely don't want God to use Brian, of all people, to do the convicting. So, there it is. An ugly truth of mine. A time when my pride and self-centeredness take center stage. I am so thankful to have a forgiving God and a forgiving husband.

Back to Nehemiah! I have been learning some new things and have been challenged in my relationship with God and relationship with other believers. You can listen to the series on our podcasts. You can find them at
http://www.rockharborchurch.org/. I encourage you to listen to them or come check out Rock Harbor for yourself.

A dog's life

Rolo can't be bothered with standing up when he eats. What a rough life he has!

A fun night of Twister!

There is not a sound I love more than listening to my boys laugh!
